CCTV and door access control for offices

Cameras and door readers are network devices now, and they need the same care as the rest of your IT. We plan, install and manage office CCTV and access control on low-voltage cabling, kept secure, kept updated and simple for your team to use.

CCTV & access control for small and medium businesses

Many offices end up with a camera system installed years ago by one company, a door entry system by another and nobody who can explain how either works. The recorder still uses its factory password, nobody can find last Tuesday's footage, and the swipe card belonging to someone who left months ago still opens the front door. Meanwhile the cameras sit on the same network as your accounting files, an easy way in for an attacker.

We treat cameras and door controllers as part of your IT. They go on their own network segment, use strong unique passwords, receive firmware updates and are included in your documentation. Viewing works from approved phones and computers without exposing the recorder to the internet. When someone leaves, removing their door access becomes part of the same leaver checklist as disabling their email. Footage and entry logs are easy to find when you need them, and only the people you choose can see them.

Our work is low-voltage only: network cabling, Power over Ethernet devices, recorders and door controllers. Where a new power circuit, mains connection or an electric lock that needs mains wiring is required, a registered electrician does that part and we coordinate it. Every installation is quoted in writing first. The quote lists each camera and door, the cabling route, storage, the electrician's portion where one is needed and the ongoing care, so you can see exactly what you are paying for and how it will be looked after once it is running.

What's included

Site walk-through

We look at entrances, reception, server cupboard and car park with you and agree what each camera needs to see before anything is priced.

Network cameras

Business-grade IP cameras powered over the network cable, positioned for useful images rather than blank walls, with night performance checked.

Recording and storage

A recorder or cloud service sized for the number of days you need to keep, with clear settings for how long footage is held.

Door access control

Card, fob or phone-based entry for front doors and internal rooms, with schedules so doors lock outside business hours.

Separate camera network

Cameras and controllers kept apart from your computers, so a weak camera can't be used as a way into your files.

Secure remote viewing

Footage available on approved phones and computers through the vendor's secure app, without opening ports on your router.

Starters and leavers

Access cards issued and cancelled as part of your normal staff changes, with a record of who holds what.

Ongoing care

Firmware updates, storage checks and help finding footage when you need it for an incident or an insurance claim.

Who is CCTV and access control for?

This is a good fit for offices that:

  • Share a building or have a reception area open to the public
  • Still use physical keys and aren't sure how many copies exist
  • Have a camera system nobody knows how to access or update
  • Need a record of who entered a room holding stock, files or servers
  • Are moving into a new office and want security planned with the network

CCTV & access control questions

Do you do the electrical work?

No. We only do low-voltage work such as network cabling, PoE cameras and door controllers. Anything involving mains power, new circuits or mains-wired locks is done by a registered electrician, and we coordinate with them so it fits the plan.

What does CCTV cost for a small office?

It depends on the number of cameras, cabling distances, storage and whether you add door access. We visit, agree what is needed and send a written quote before any work starts.

How long is footage kept?

Typically between two and four weeks, depending on how many cameras you have and how much storage you buy. We help you choose a period that suits your needs and your privacy obligations.

What about privacy rules?

Under New Zealand privacy law you should have a clear reason for each camera, put up signs and limit who can view footage. We help you place cameras sensibly and set viewing permissions accordingly.

Can we open the door from a phone?

Many access systems support phone-based entry and remote unlocking. We will explain the options and the security trade-offs before you choose.

Can you take over an existing system?

Often, yes. We check what is installed, change default passwords, update firmware and move it onto its own network. If the equipment is too old to secure, we tell you plainly.

Do you install in shared buildings?

Yes. We work with the building manager on cabling routes, the main entrance system and any rules about drilling or ceiling access.
