IT support for farms and agribusiness
Farming is increasingly run from a phone and a laptop as much as from the ute. We help farms and agribusinesses get reliable internet, safe accounts and systems that work without a town-based IT department.

IT for farms & agribusiness
Modern farms produce a surprising amount of data. Herd records, mating and production figures, animal movements under NAIT, fertiliser and effluent records, irrigation controls, weather stations and farm accounts all live in software now, and much of it is checked on a phone in the paddock. Larger operations and agribusinesses may also run payroll for several staff, manage multiple properties and report to banks, processors or a board. All of that rests on an internet connection that, on many properties, has been slow and unreliable for years.
Farms face the same online threats as any business, with fewer people to spot them. Fake bank, processor and supplier emails are common, rural banking often moves large sums at set times of the season, and a single family computer may hold the accounts, the children's schoolwork and an old copy of the herd records. When that machine dies, nobody knows whether the backup actually worked. Staff houses, cowsheds, workshops and the main house often all need coverage from a single, struggling connection.
Office IT supports farms and agribusinesses that want proper IT without having it in-house. Our technicians work onsite in Auckland and Hamilton, and our help desk supports rural properties anywhere in New Zealand remotely. Onsite work on farms beyond those areas, such as installing satellite internet or linking buildings, is planned in advance and done on an arranged visit. We are honest about that: most rural support is remote, and we set your systems up so it works well that way.
Common IT problems in this industry
Slow or unreliable rural internet
Copper lines and patchy mobile coverage make cloud farm software, video calls and online banking frustrating, especially in busy seasons.
Buildings spread across the farm
The house, office, cowshed, workshop and staff houses may each need a connection, and they can be hundreds of metres apart.
Banking and payment scams
Fake emails from banks, processors and stock agents target farms at predictable times, such as payout dates and stock sales.
One computer for everything
Farm accounts, records and personal files often share one ageing PC with no tested backup and a password everyone in the family knows.
Records you must keep
Animal movement, effluent, fertiliser and health and safety records need to be accurate and retained, and often requested by processors or councils.
Help is a long drive away
Waiting for a technician to visit a rural property can take days. Good remote support and a well-documented setup matter more than anywhere else.
What we set up for you
Satellite or fixed wireless internet
We assess what is available at your address and set up the best option, often Starlink, with professional mounting and a router that covers the house and office.
Linking farm buildings
Point-to-point wireless links carry the connection from the house to the cowshed, workshop or staff houses, with each building on its own managed network.
Separate business and family devices
Farm accounts and records move onto a business laptop with its own sign-in, encryption and backup, separate from the family computer.
Account protection
Multi-factor sign-in on email, banking, farm software and processor portals stops most stolen-password attacks, and we filter scam email before it lands.
Cloud backup of farm records
Farm documents, spreadsheets and email are backed up daily to the cloud, so a lightning strike or failed hard drive does not erase years of records.
Remote support that works
We install remote support tools and document your setup, so most problems can be fixed from our desk without anyone driving out.

We work with the software and equipment your business already relies on, and with your software vendors when something needs their help.

IT supportIT for farms & agribusiness: questions
Do you come out to farms?
Our technicians are based in Auckland and Hamilton and visit properties around those areas as needed. For farms further away, we support you remotely and plan visits for installation projects, such as satellite internet or linking buildings, by arrangement. We will always tell you upfront what can be done remotely and what needs a visit.
Is Starlink worth it for a farm?
For many rural properties it is a large improvement on copper or weak mobile coverage, and it handles cloud farm software, video calls and banking well. The details that matter are a good mounting position, a decent router and getting the signal to the buildings that need it.
Can you get internet to our cowshed or workshop?
Usually, yes. A point-to-point wireless link between buildings is often simpler and cheaper than trenching cable. We look at distance and line of sight, then quote the design and hardware in writing before installing.
How do we avoid bank and processor scam emails?
Turn on multi-factor sign-in for email and banking, be suspicious of any message asking you to sign in or change payment details, and check by calling a number you already have. We add filtering that catches most fake messages before they reach you.
We only have a couple of staff. Is a plan worth it?
For a small farm, pay as you go may suit better: $109 an hour for remote support plus GST, with set-up projects quoted in writing. Larger agribusinesses with office staff usually choose the Essentials plan at $69 or the Managed plan at $119 per user per month plus GST.
What happens if our farm computer dies?
If your records are in the cloud and backed up, very little is lost. We supply and set up a replacement, which we quote in writing first, restore your files and get your farm software signed in again, mostly by remote connection.
