IT support for property developers

A development pulls together architects, engineers, consultants, lenders and builders around one set of drawings and one bank account. We keep the files, connections and payments behind that project secure and moving.

IT for property developers

Property development is project work with long timelines and large sums of money. A single townhouse or apartment project produces thousands of drawings, reports, consent documents, contracts and progress claims, and they come from a rotating cast of architects, engineers, planners, quantity surveyors, lawyers and builders. Developers need one place where the current version of everything lives, and they need to control who can see it, from the feasibility stage through to the last title issued.

Money is the other pressure. Progress payments, deposits, land settlements and consultant fees move regularly and in large amounts, and every one of them is a chance for an altered invoice or a fake change of bank details. Developers also spend much of their time out of the office, on site, at council or at lender meetings, so a phone and a laptop are often the real office, and a site container or sales suite needs dependable internet from day one.

Office IT supports development companies with three to seventy-five staff. We set up structured project file storage that consultants can work in, secure email and payment approvals, manage the devices your team carries, and get site offices and display suites connected with Wi-Fi, low-voltage data cabling and CCTV where it helps. Our technicians cover Auckland and Hamilton onsite, and we support projects in other regions remotely, with planned onsite work arranged in advance.

Common IT problems in this industry

Version control on drawings

Architects and engineers issue revision after revision. When old sets circulate by email, people price and build from the wrong version.

Consultants coming and going

Dozens of external parties need access during a project and should lose it when their part is done. Shared links that never expire are a common leak.

Large progress payments

Big, regular payments to builders and consultants are a magnet for invoice fraud and fake bank detail changes.

Site offices with no internet

Site containers and sales suites often start without a fixed line. Teams end up tethering phones and losing hours to poor connections.

Security on site

Plant, materials and display suites need monitoring, and a site camera that nobody can view remotely is not much use.

Projects that outlast staff

A project can run for years. Files left in a departed project manager's mailbox or OneDrive are hard to recover later.

What we set up for you

Project sites in SharePoint

Each development gets its own structured project area with clear folders for design, consents, contracts and sales, plus version history on every file.

External sharing with limits

Consultants get access to their own project folders through guest accounts or expiring links, reviewed and removed when they finish.

Two-step payment approval

We help set up an approval flow so large payments and bank detail changes need a second person and a call-back before money moves.

Site office connectivity

We set up 4G or 5G routers, fixed wireless or satellite internet with Wi-Fi for site offices and sales suites, sized to the number of people using them.

Low-voltage cabling and CCTV

Our technicians run data cabling and install network cameras that can be viewed securely from a phone. Any mains power work is done by a registered electrician.

Company-owned project data

Project files live in company storage rather than personal accounts, so nothing is lost when a project manager moves on.

Systems we support

We work with the software and equipment your business already relies on, and with your software vendors when something needs their help.

  • Microsoft 365, SharePoint and Teams for project files
  • Autodesk and PDF drawing viewers and markup tools
  • Project management and scheduling software
  • Feasibility and development cost spreadsheets in Excel
  • Xero or other accounting software for project accounts
  • Electronic signature tools for contracts and sale agreements
  • Council online consent portals

IT for property developers: questions

How do we stop consultants working from old drawings?

Keep one current set in a shared project area with version history, and share links to that location instead of emailing attachments. We set up the structure and train your team so superseded drawings are clearly marked or moved to an archive folder.

Can you get internet into a site office quickly?

Usually yes, using a 4G or 5G router or a satellite service while a fixed connection is arranged. We confirm what coverage is available at the address first and quote the setup in writing.

Can external consultants use our file system?

Yes. Guest access in Microsoft 365 lets consultants open and upload to their own project folders using their own email address. We review guest access regularly and remove it when their work ends.

Do you install cameras on building sites?

We install network cameras and the low-voltage cabling or wireless links they need, and set up secure remote viewing. Power for the cameras on a construction site is provided by a registered electrician.

How do we protect large payments to builders?

Require a second approver for any payment above a set amount and a call-back to a known number for any change of bank details. We add email filtering and alerts that make a compromised mailbox easier to spot.

How is project work charged?

Ongoing support is per user per month from $69 to $169 plus GST. Site office setups, cabling and camera installs are projects, quoted in writing first so you know the cost before work starts.
