IT support for logistics and warehousing

Every pick, pack and despatch depends on a scanner reaching the stock system. We build and support the networks and devices that keep goods moving through the warehouse.

IT for logistics & warehousing

A warehouse is a hard place for IT. High racking, metal shelving, roller doors and full pallets all block Wi-Fi, and the floor can be a long way from the comms cabinet. Yet handheld scanners, forklift tablets, label printers and despatch PCs all need a steady connection to the warehouse or stock system, and one patch of weak signal can slow an entire picking run. Coverage also changes as stock levels rise and fall, so a network that tested well when the building was empty can struggle at peak season.

Freight businesses also live by cut-off times. Courier bookings, consignment labels, customs paperwork and customer notifications all have to be done before trucks leave. If the despatch PC is down at three in the afternoon, orders miss their run and customers notice the next morning. Many of these jobs depend on links between the stock system, an online store, courier platforms and accounting software, and a quiet failure in any one of them can leave orders sitting unprocessed. Freight and warehouse IT has to be dependable through the afternoon rush, not just at nine in the morning.

Office IT supports warehouses, distribution centres and freight forwarders with three to seventy-five staff. We survey and cable the building, design Wi-Fi around racking, set up and manage handheld devices, look after label printing and despatch, and protect the office systems that hold customer and shipment data. We do low-voltage work only, so electrical work for new racking or docks stays with your electrician. When racking is moved or a new mezzanine goes in, we revisit the Wi-Fi so coverage keeps up with the layout.

Common IT problems in this industry

Wi-Fi among racking

Metal racking and changing stock levels make coverage uneven, so scanners drop out in aisles or roam badly between access points.

Handheld scanner fleets

Dozens of shared Android scanners need the same apps, settings and updates, and a broken or lost device needs replacing quickly.

Despatch cut-offs

Courier booking, label printing and paperwork must be done before trucks leave. Any outage late in the day means missed deliveries.

Integrations between systems

Stock systems, online stores, courier platforms and accounting software pass orders between each other. When one link breaks, orders stall silently.

Cameras and security across large sites

Yards, docks and loading bays need camera coverage and recording that staff can review quickly when a delivery is disputed.

Shift work and shared devices

Multiple shifts share PCs and scanners, which encourages shared logins and makes it hard to see who did what.

What we set up for you

Warehouse Wi-Fi designed for racking

A site survey, access points placed for the aisles and dock doors, and roaming tuned so scanners stay connected as staff move.

Managed scanner fleet

Handheld devices enrolled in device management, locked to the apps they need, updated together and quick to replace with a configured spare.

Reliable despatch stations

Despatch PCs, label printers and courier software set up, documented and monitored, with a backup internet connection where cut-offs matter.

Data cabling and cabinets

Cabling run to docks, offices and access points, with switches in tidy, labelled cabinets that are easy to service.

Network cameras

Low-voltage camera systems covering docks, yards and aisles, recording to a secure recorder on its own network, with remote viewing for managers.

Individual logins and security

Each staff member signs in as themselves where possible, with multi-factor sign-in for office systems and email filtering for freight and invoice scams.

Systems we support

We work with the software and equipment your business already relies on, and with your software vendors when something needs their help.

  • Warehouse management and stock control systems
  • Courier booking and freight label platforms
  • Online store platforms linked to stock
  • Android handheld scanner apps
  • Thermal label and barcode printing software
  • Xero or MYOB accounting
  • Network camera recording and viewing software

IT for logistics & warehousing: questions

Why do our scanners keep dropping out in the aisles?

Usually because access points were placed for an office, not for racking, or because roaming settings make scanners cling to a distant access point. A site survey shows where coverage is weak, and moving or adding access points and tuning settings normally fixes it.

Can you manage our handheld scanners?

Yes. We enrol them in device management, lock them to the apps staff need, push updates together and keep configured spares ready. A broken scanner can be replaced without a long setup.

How do you protect despatch cut-offs?

We monitor the despatch PCs, printers and internet connection, keep spare label printer settings on hand, and can add a second internet connection so a single outage doesn't stop courier bookings.

Do you install cameras?

Yes, as low-voltage work. We cable and install network cameras and recorders, keep them on their own network and set up remote viewing. Power outlets and mains wiring need a registered electrician.

Can you help when the stock system and online store stop talking?

We check the devices, accounts, network and connections between systems, and work with the software vendors where the fault is inside their product. We also document how your integrations fit together so faults are found faster.

How is support priced for a warehouse?

Office staff are covered per user, with plans at $69, $119 and $169 per user per month plus GST. Shared scanners, printers and network equipment are covered as part of your site, which we agree in writing before we start.
